Hello
We are currently developing a vision to be a hub of missional outreach at Oakleigh Community Church to all ages.
In addition to the great work that is already happening through ministries such as Little Oaks and Coffee Run, our initial plan is to serve children and families in the care system, by becoming an approved contact centre, where children and birth parents can meet.
In addition, we are working on becoming a Home Education Hub, providing high quality, National Curriculum tutoring, with a Christian, Jesus-centred, ethos. In the lead up to launching, we aim to give a monthly update with regards to progress and prayer points.

April Update
Home Education Tuition Centre
Praise Points
We want to start by saying that we now have 5 children registered with the Centre who will be starting with us on Monday 28th April! We have been so encouraged by this. Through the website, and advertising the Centre through various different Facebook groups, we held two very successful Open Days in February and March which enabled parents/carers and their child/children to come along and see what we are offering plus it gave the parents/carers the chance to discuss what would work best for them too. We also have 5 families signed up for our two Taster Days on 22nd & 23rd April, which are going to give children a ‘taste’ of the kind of lessons that we will be delivering.
Following on from this, we would like to invite any member of Oakleigh Community Church to come along to an Information Session which will be held after both church services at 10.30 – 11.00am or 12.30 – 1.00pm on Sunday 13th April. Feel free to pop up to the Children’s HUB and Family Room where we can show you our Tuition Centre classrooms and also tell you a little bit more about what we are doing. We also want it to be an opportunity for you to possibly discuss with us any ways in which you would like to get involved. Possibilities include listening to readers, supporting us during the children’s break time, sharing any particular skills/expertise that you think may benefit the children at the Centre, and last, but by no means least, committing to praying for all that is going on here. We want as many people to be involved as possible, even if that is simply sharing any of our posts on Facebook or inviting people along to our Open or Taster sessions.
Prayer Points
• Wisdom and discernment as we invite people to be part of the Centre and work alongside us.
• That more families will register with us for the Summer Term and also the Autumn Term.
• That God continues to lead us as we plan and put together everything to make this an inviting and nurturing educational setting for all the families that register with us.
Contact Centre
Praise Points
We want to give thanks for the extremely successful buildings assessment that took place at the end of February. The person who came to assess our building was bowled over by all that we will be offering at our Contact Centre and loved what we are able to provide to make the families as comfortable as possible whilst using the contact centre. The little touches of good coffee, sofas and bright welcoming spaces did not go unnoticed.
We also want to give thanks for all the people who have already signed up to support Isla and Claire at the Centre, together with their commitment to take part in all the training that is needed. Our incredible volunteers have been working hard over the last couple of months to ensure they are trained and equipped to begin supporting families when the centre opens.
The website is very nearly ready to be launched and Theo has been working hard on this to ensure that all the needed and relevant information is on there. Photos have been taken of the rooms, and booklets for parents, the children and Local Authorities have been produced, which will all be available on the website as people begin to explore using us as a centre.
Prayer Points
• Please pray for Claire and Isla as they look to complete the 4 days Supervisor Training Course in order for the Centre to open.
• That any adjustments that need to be done to the building will be done in time for the opening of the Centre in May.
• That we will find favour with the local authorities as we begin to make contact to inform them about the Centre.
• For Theo, as he finishes off the website and for its launch in the next month.
